Our morning begins with a magical climb through enchanted moss-draped forests to Badal Danda ("Cloud Hill"), where swirling mists reveal fleeting glimpses of Machhapuchhre's fishtail peak. At this mystical viewpoint, we pause at the ancient Baraha Temple, its prayer flags whispering centuries-old blessings for safe passage.

The trail then transforms dramatically - leaving the tree line behind, we navigate rugged moraines where yaks graze on alpine herbs. Each step brings us closer to High Camp (3,550m), where the Himalayas unveil their full glory: the towering walls of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli glow at sunset. Tonight, wrapped in down jackets under a sky ablaze with stars, we'll dream of tomorrow's final push to Mardi Himal Base Camp.

Under a starry pre-dawn sky, we begin our pilgrimage to Mardi Himal's heart. Ice axes crunch on frosty trails as we navigate the knife-edge ridge, watching the first sun rays ignite Machhapuchhre's iconic fishtail in golden light. At 4,200m, the viewpoint rewards us with a 360° Himalayan amphitheater – Annapurna South's icy flanks, Hiunchuli's razor ridge, and the rarely-seen east face of Mardi Himal itself.

The final push to 4,500m brings us face-to-face with the mountain's glacial snout, where we stand in silent reverence amidst towering seracs. After savoring this hard-earned moment, we descend past grazing blue sheep to Badal Danda, where the setting sun paints the peaks in alpenglow – a perfect farewell to the high mountains before tomorrow's return to Pokhara.
